another thing big B doesn't talk about: his childhood
anyway I can't imagine the Commissioner would be big on teenage Bruce Wayne fighting crime but adult Batman has saved his bacon several times over and vice versa
Probably prefers you think he sprang fully formed and brooding from some primordial muck at the bottom of the cave.
I met Jim when I was 12. And I'd think he'd be at least a little appreciative of my efforts, considering how many times I've kept him from following cold leads.
I was kind of hoping you'd continue the trend of not calling me out for avoiding questions.
[ i mean ... it's like you want him to hold up his end of the conversation occasionally or smth, grayson, HOW RUDE. ]
There's always a certain satisfaction to "helping" solve a mystery. But I've only ever gotten involved under very particular sets of circumstances that aren't likely to recur. At least not without Jim starting to call it "obstruction of justice".
I dress up in (kevlar weave!) tights and fight crime at night what crimes people do and don't feel responsible for fixing and stopping is interesting to me
why are botanists interested in flowers? why are clowns interested in jokes? I fight crime so I'm interested in why other people do or don't fight crime it's what I've done since before I was your age it's been my whole life
obviously! it's why I said I always thought (the other) you could have been an excellent police officer or a lawyer... have you met anyone named Harvey Dent?
Excellent police officers and lawyers concern themselves with due process.
I'm referring to strategic initiatives that target the systemic issues that cause crime, like those I help oversee as a legacy member of the Wayne Foundation's board of directors. Just because I don't back-flip off rooftops to punch criminals doesn't mean I don't think I have a civic duty to do what I can to help prevent crime and assist those affected by it. Sounded like you were implying otherwise.
but I think you might be having more trouble knowing what to do about your own feelings on crime prevention and justice
and to be fully transparent: I'm not sure you'd want to adopt me if you don't become Batman but that really isn't on you it's just something I can't stop thinking about
In what sensible world does moonlighting as a bat-themed vigilante make a person more likely to adopt a child Or, no offense, but perhaps this is the more salient question -- FIT to adopt a child
I know you don't mean to insult me but you adopting me was the best thing that could have happened it meant the world to me that someone cared and that you saw me as someone capable of fixing things and helping instead of just some broken orphan
I was taken in as your 'ward' but you and Alfred raised me after my parents died I'm not clear on whether you know all the details of that honestly but it is what it is I don't know who I'd be if you hadn't taken me in but I don't think I'd like him nearly as much
